A motorcyclist died on Monday morning on Boyeros Avenue in Havana, as revealed by a witness on social media.

A video published by the Internet user identified on Facebook as "Asere Backagain" showed a red motorcycle and the victim's body lying on the road several meters away from the vehicle, covered with a black nylon.

Sad accident on Boyeros Avenue with one fatality at this moment. Rest in peace. More responsibility on the road is needed, as well as streets suitable for transit. May God have the gentleman in glory. Today a family mourns. Condolences and strength," wrote the source on social media.

In the images released by the initial source that reported the accident, some witnesses can be seen, as well as a green van from the authorities at the scene.

According to the testimony of a close acquaintance of the victim, the deceased man was a father of a family.

In recent days, there have been several traffic accidents reported in different provinces of the country, with the tragic toll of at least nine fatalities, including the motorcyclist from Boyeros.

In one of the accidents, a young Cuban couple riding a Kawasaki-type motorcycle died on Friday in Cárdenas, Matanzas, when they crashed into a tree near the roundabout bordering the city cemetery.

In another tragedy, which also occurred on Friday, a girl died on Ocho Vías, in Havana, when the car in which the minor was traveling with her family overturned and caught fire.

A few hours earlier, in the early hours of Thursday, five other people died in an accident that occurred near Playa Santa Lucía, in the city of Camagüey.

All types of traffic accidents have not let up on Cuban roads since the beginning of the year, following the same trend as in 2023.

Last year, 729 people lost their lives in Cuba as a result of traffic accidents. Authorities recorded 8,556 road accidents that left 5,938 injured. Human error would have been the cause of 91% of these incidents, according to authorities.
