An electrical failure left several municipalities in Havana without manufactured gas on Tuesday, although the service has since been restored.

According to the Manufactured Gas Company of the province, an overall electrical failure occurred at production plant 2, which supplies gas service to the Playa - Marianao network, as reported to the newspaper Tribuna.

The cause, the entity claims, was the inclement weather.

The note states that the Electric Company of Havana, along with the Manufactured Gas Company, managed to restore the service in the shortest possible time and offered apologies for the inconvenience.

Several internet users expressed their outrage at the excuse given to the users.

"Inclement weather. A summer downpour and strong thunder. When it's not one thing, it's the other. How did they manage a few years ago? Just San Pedro sneezes and Cuba gets pneumonia," questioned a craftswoman.

"Cupet, you were the only one missing to join the club of the incompetent. Welcome, friend, now you join UNE, Etecsa, Aguas de La Habana, civil registries, collective law firms, Mincin, Minsap, etc., etc.," said a woman.

"The harshness is not from the weather; it is the leadership that is unrelenting with our needs, which did not foresee or address," criticized an elderly woman.

The gas service, the main source for many residents of Havana to cook their food, is frequently disrupted by breakdowns or maintenance work.

Manufactured gas, or street gas, is the main source that many residents of Havana have for cooking their food, which on several occasions warns of leaks and the danger they pose to life.

In October, the company announced that due to repair work at the ENERGAS production plant, there would be a decrease in the volume of natural gas, affecting seven municipalities either completely or partially.

In August 2022, the entity announced a partial or total interruption of service in the same areas due to work on ENERGAS to ensure greater reliability in the natural gas distribution service.

Days earlier, CUPET announced the interruption of service in the Playa-Marianao network, supposedly due to issues related to two breakdowns.
