Alicia Consuegra Sánchez, a 14-year-old teenager whose whereabouts were lost on Monday morning at the National Bus Terminal in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality in Havana, was found safe and sound, as updated on social media by the girl's mother.
"Sorry for not letting you know yesterday that my girl has been found. Thank you all for your concern. I especially thank God for placing that kind and very responsible woman who kept her by her side until she went to look for her," wrote Nancy Sánchez in the comments section of the alert published by Ismaray Consuegra.
"Thank you very much to everyone who participated in the search for my little girl," added the woman, who did not provide further details about the cause of the minor's disappearance, although she did mention that a good Samaritan kept the girl safe until the family arrived.
In recent times, reports of missing persons in Cuba have become frequent, causing concern among families who turn to social media for help in locating their loved ones due to the lack of an official channel to make these cases visible.
Due to the absence of a police protocol and an early alert system for the disappearance of girls and boys, the feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba established the "Alerta Mayde" to help locate minors whose whereabouts are unknown in Cuba.
This alert was created following the disappearance in May 2021 of the teenager Maydeleisis Rosales Rodríguez in Havana. The minor, unfortunately, still remains missing three years later.
