The nine-year-old Helinzzon Paneque, who was on the brink of death due to the serious injuries he sustained from a gas cylinder explosion at his home in Havana earlier this year, was discharged from the hospital this Tuesday, his mother Suelen Chacón reported.
Helinzzon managed to recover despite the severity of the burns on his body caused by the incident, which resulted in a family tragedy, as his six-year-old sister, Elinzzanith Paneque, could not recover from her injuries and passed away on January 6, after several days in critical condition.

In a heartbreaking post published on Facebook, the mother of the young children shared the news of her son's discharge from the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital in Havana and confessed to having “mixed feelings” in “a moment filled with both sadness and joy.”
"Hello everyone, group, I want to share this moment filled with sadness and joy, a mix of emotions today, we are being discharged from the hospital, it can now be said that we are out, heartfelt thanks to all of you who have been and continue to be here concerned about the child's health," wrote Chacón.
Regarding the child's physical condition, the mother noted that "he has improved a lot, he still doesn't walk very straight, but it's little by little" and lamented: "Unfortunately, I entered [the hospital] with two and am leaving with one, unfortunately the tragedy affected three and only one survived...".
Chacón did not specify who the other person was that also died as a result of the tragic accident, although from his words, it can be inferred that it might have been the grandfather of his children.
"Thank God, because at least amidst all this distress, I have reasons to give life my all. Although the truth is, nothing will be the same; I won’t be the same, but I will always say I am proudly the mother of six children, and they have had an exceptional grandfather with boundless feelings," she stated.
“Thank you, I can't keep writing, part of my heart is missing every time I remember their absence. I’ll leave you a photo so you can meet [my] two children, the one who is in my heart and [my] only man in life, my true love.”
Chacón also expressed her gratitude to two people -Maripili and Penélope- and to the project Aliento de Vida, to the sponsors, and to the group "for being a great support."
At the beginning of this month, tragedy struck Suelen Chacón's family when a domestic accident sent her two children, aged six and nine, to the hospital in critical condition.
The girl Elinzzanith, admitted just like her brother to the intensive care unit of the pediatric hospital located in the municipality of Marianao, could not overcome the state of extreme severity in which she was and passed away, leaving her mother devastated.
In a heart-wrenching account, the grieving woman expressed: "A mother can have 20 children, but if she loses even one, it feels like the world is collapsing, as if nothing matters to you, as if a huge part of you has been taken away. The breath is gone."
However, drawing strength from his immense pain, he stated that he had "another battle to fight, and I will fight this one for faith," referring to his nine-year-old son, who remained in critical condition as a result of the accident. Fortunately, Helinzzon recovered, and this Monday he was able to go home.
The family received material support through the Breath of Life project, which led a humanitarian aid campaign that collected essential items to contribute to the recovery of the children and help the family cope with the difficult circumstances following the accident.
