Update on the condition of five injured in a traffic accident in Mayarí

Five injured in an accident in Mayarí, Holguín, are receiving medical attention. Three are reported to be in critical condition at the Mayarí Hospital, and two were transferred to the municipality of Holguín. The incident involved a truck that overturned while swerving to avoid a cyclist.

Five people who were injured in the second traffic accident that occurred on the morning of this Sunday in Mayarí, Holguín, are receiving medical attention in hospitals in the province.

Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and are being treated at the Mayarí Hospital, reported Dr. Irene Fuentes Peña, director of that facility, according to a report published on Facebook earlier this afternoon by journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo.

Melba Rosa Tamayo Nápoles, 53 years old and resident of Building 25, apartment 28, Las Coloradas, Moa, has a fracture of the left fibula; Iván Romero Paumier, 56 years old and residing at 9th Street #78, Rolo Monterrey, Moa, is suffering multiple contusions, and in a similar condition is Islandi Durán Monjes, 50 years old and a neighbor of Santa María, Barajagua, the source specified.

Meanwhile, two other injured individuals were transferred to hospitals in the city of Holguín: Yasmani Peña Revé, 28 years old and a resident of Sagua de Tánamo, who suffered a skull injury; and Carmelina Estévez Ramírez, 67 years old and residing at Building 25, apartment 26, in Las Coloradas, Moa, who has an open ankle fracture.

As of the moment this notice was published, no further update had been provided regarding the condition of the five patients injured in the accident that occurred near the entrance to Dos Bahías in Cabonico, where, fortunately, there were no fatalities.

The traffic incident involved a truck belonging to the port of Moa, which veered off the road and ended up overturned when the driver tried to dodge a cyclist.

This event occurred just hours after a tragic accident that claimed the lives of all six occupants of a rental car for tourists, who were traveling early in the morning from the city of Holguín to Moa.

Around 1:00 a.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing the Castillito bridge and crashed into a large metal pipe.

In the location, five people died, including a child, and another sustained serious injuries and passed away hours later in the hospital.

The fatalities are Yancarlos Jiménez Carmenate, 12 years old; Daniuska Carmenate Galván, 43; and Adriel Jiménez Pelegrín, 37; who resided in the United States.

Also deceased at the scene were Rachel Pelegrín González, 77 years old, and Yaddelis Pérez Osorio, 37, both residents of Las Coloradas, Moa; while Yannelis Pérez Osorio, 33 years old, who suffered severe multiple traumas, died hours later at a hospital in the municipality of Holguín.
