The driver of a car did not stop at the pedestrian crossing in front of a primary school in the Lawton neighborhood of Havana, and hit a girl who was on her way to the educational center on the morning of this Thursday.
As a result of the impact, the minor had to be transferred to the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital in Marianao, where she is under observation, according to relatives who shared information on Facebook.

The incident occurred at the pedestrian crosswalk on Calzada de Dolores between 15th and 16th Streets, and the car involved is a classic Cuban car.
“Accident on Calzada de Dolores 15/16 Lawton, the driver did not yield at the crosswalk in front of a primary school, where a minor was hit while heading to school,” reported Ronald Mogene in the group “Bus & Trucks Accidents for more experience and fewer victims!”.
The user added that "the girl suffered injuries, but for now she is alive, and we hope it stays that way and that she can recover as soon as possible," and warned that "such recklessness and irresponsibility can cost the lives of many of us. Respect traffic laws so that things like this do not happen, especially with minors."
According to witnesses, after the incident, the girl's father threw stones at the vehicle and broke the windows of three side doors.
In the comments, several people criticized the irresponsibility of the driver and advocated for the Police to revoke his driving license for life and impose a criminal penalty on him, given his dangerous and negligent behavior on the road.
A local resident commented that on Calzada de Dolores there are two crosswalks in front of two schools, one on 15th Street - where the accident occurred this Thursday - and another on 21st Street; however, she stated, “neither is properly respected by drivers of cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.”
The woman claimed that "the fear is terrible as they cross at full speed, not caring that there are children crossing. It's a good lesson for the people who were there; may they never have a license in their lives again."
Other users urged drivers to be more cautious when driving. “What madness!! And what recklessness!!... Not respecting a crosswalk, especially in a school zone... This has gone too far… I hope the little girl is okay and does not suffer any lasting effects from the impact. Drivers!! Focus all your senses on what you are doing,” a man urged.
The photos shared online show several police officers at the scene of the incident, investigating what happened.
At the time of publishing this note, no information has been released about the health status of the girl who was hit by the car.
