A year has passed since Amanda's family, supported by the solidarity of many Cubans and the efforts of activists like Yamilka Lafita (known on social media as Lara Crofs), succeeded in getting the girl transferred to Spain, where she could receive the specialized treatment that the Cuban healthcare system did not provide.

Thanks to a solidarity campaign, Amanda received a humanitarian visa and in March 2024 arrived in Madrid in critical condition, due to lack of proper care in her home country.

The liver transplant was a resounding success, and since then, he has shown remarkable recovery.

After a year of treatment and three other surgical interventions, the little girl is showing significant progress. In September, she began to sit up on her own, babble words, and take a few steps.

At the end of 2024, a new complication related to the bile duct arose, requiring additional surgery. Despite the challenges, she continues to make an exemplary recovery.

In January of this year, she was readmitted to La Paz Hospital to have a catheter removed, a procedure that was successfully carried out without major complications. Activist Lara Crofs joyfully shared the news: "Amanda is doing great, eating and everything," she said, highlighting the strength of the girl in the face of each challenge.

Amanda's story touched the hearts of thousands of people both inside and outside of Cuba, who have closely followed her journey. She was "the girl who restored hope to many Cubans inside and outside of Cuba," emphasized Lara Crofs.

On March 15th, Amanda's family celebrates not only a year since her transplant but also a year of hope, strength, and life.

Mila Ortiz concluded her message with an emotional thank you to everyone who has supported Amanda throughout this difficult journey: "Happy day of life... as a great friend would say, happy day of life to everyone."
