Amanda Lemus Ortiz, the Cuban girl suffering from biliary atresia, a severe liver disease, has faced numerous challenges in her pursuit of a liver transplant. Being diagnosed with this condition prompted her family to mobilize intensively to secure adequate treatment outside of Cuba, due to the limitations of the local healthcare system. Thanks to the active campaign led by activist Yamilka Lafita and the support of the international community, Amanda obtained a humanitarian visa and was transferred to Spain, where her father volunteered to be the donor for the transplant.

In Spain, Amanda has undergone several surgeries and treatments, demonstrating remarkable resilience and a strong desire to live. Despite the deterioration of her health, her condition has started to stabilize thanks to the medical care she has received. The Cuban community and people from around the world continue to support her family to cover the expenses associated with her treatment and stay abroad. Amanda's story not only highlights a girl's struggle for her life but also the solidarity of many people united to help her.
