The false alarm arose from a image circulated on social media, in which mothers were warned about an alleged child theft at the pediatric hospital in Holguín. The image read:

"Please, mothers at the pediatric hospital in Holguín, there is a woman dressed as a nurse stealing children from the wards."

In recent months, various unfounded rumors about alleged child abductions have circulated in Cuba, raising concerns among the population. The first of these emerged in January, when the authorities of the municipality of Cárdenas, Matanzas, denied information regarding supposed kidnapping attempts in local schools, labeling it as false and asserting that there was no evidence of such occurrences.

Later, in February, Cuban state media categorically denied new rumors about child abductions, emphasizing the safety in the country's schools and urging the public to obtain information through official channels.

These events not only highlight the importance of verifying information and relying on official sources before spreading news that may cause public alarm, but they also serve as a barometer of the insecurity experienced on the island.

Other incidents such as the thefts from patients at the Dr. Antonio María Béguez César Children's Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, where thieves entered through the back of the hospital and stole belongings from accompanying mothers during the early morning hours. Or the assault and injury of a worker at the Juan de la Cruz Martínez Maceira Children's Hospital, known as "La Ondi," also in Santiago de Cuba, while she was performing her duties as a custodian, have also been reported by affected individuals.

These incidents have raised concerns among the population and highlight the importance of strengthening security in healthcare institutions to ensure the protection of patients, accompanying individuals, and sanitary measures.
