Neighbors in the area reported hearing between eight and fifteen gunshots coming from an apartment on the fourth floor. “I went outside and heard gunshots right in front of me, I ran over and that’s when all the police arrived,” recounted Marco, a resident of the area, in statements gathered by Univisión Miami in their preliminary report.
Another neighbor, Verónica Cruz, said that her son heard the gunshots and that when he went outside, everything was already cordoned off with a strong presence of patrols and ambulances. “Usually, this area is quiet; you never see so much police," she commented.
The Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriff's Office continues to lead the investigation. So far, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed, nor has the relationship between all those involved been officially confirmed.
