Rayner, the Cuban content creator known in the social media world as Fiu Fiu, left Cuba for Guyana and there began a long and arduous journey through much of Latin America until he reached the United States.
In an interview with Destino Tolk, he recounted the most difficult moment of that journey from which he emerged thanks to the support of two Cuban women in Miami who, without knowing him, helped him reach U.S. soil.
“I ended up stranded in Brazil because I had no money, the police had taken it from me, I had to sleep at the subway stations, eat food from a trash bin next to a bakery that I had to rummage through at night when they threw out all the leftover items,” recounted the influencer, visibly affected as he recalled those moments.
"I had to sleep in a place that was like a building that had some doors and on a staircase I slept," he added.
A Cuban woman in Miami reached out to him through social media, and in the midst of his despair, he opened up. This woman and a friend decided to selflessly help him and sent him enough money to continue his journey to the United States without having to go through circumstances like this again.
Fiu Fiu said that this person and their father welcomed him in Miami: “I want to thank life for having found two people like them who, together with the spirit of my grandmother, helped me arrive in the United States. They know that despite not calling them every day, not writing to them, not telling them what’s happening or how I feel, there will always be a place for them in my heart.”
