A chain collision involving three vehicles occurred at noon on Friday at the intersection of Línea and L streets in Vedado, Havana, causing serious material damage to two Lada cars and a blue Geely.
According to witnesses at the scene of the incident who commented in the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones', the accident occurred when the driver of a red Lada failed to brake in time while approaching the traffic light at the busy intersection, violently colliding with the rear of a grey Lada, which was subsequently pushed into a Geely CK that was stopped in the lane.
Fortunately, preliminary reports indicate that no serious injuries were recorded, although the strong impact caused a large crowd to gather and temporarily affected traffic in the area.
The released images show the considerable damage suffered by the three vehicles, particularly the gray Lada, whose rear was completely deformed, while the red one sustained significant damage to the front, hood, and front fenders. Meanwhile, the Chinese-made vehicle endured serious damage to the trunk.
This type of incident once again highlights the need for greater caution while driving and for maintaining optimal technical conditions in the cars that travel through the avenues of the capital, which are often poorly lit and inadequately marked, among other pavement issues that affect driving.
In September 2024, two cars and an ambulance were involved in a three-vehicle collision -also at noon- at the roundabout of the Ciudad Deportiva in Havana.
In photographs shared on Facebook by a witness, a modern white car - from the Chinese manufacturer BAW - was seen colliding with another red car, which, in turn, struck an ambulance, presumably due to not maintaining the proper distance while navigating through the busy capital roundabout.
At the end of July 2024, a triple collision that occurred near Terminal 1 of Havana Airport, in the Boyeros municipality, caused damage to an Immigration patrol car and two private vehicles.
The internet user who reported the incident in the popular Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones' stated that they were unaware of the causes but indicated that one of the vehicles involved was a Chinese-made Geely.
