The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has just appointed another Cuban-American to a key position in his administration, specifically within the diplomatic corps.
Bernie Navarro will be the new ambassador of the North American country in Peru.
On his network Truth Social, the president congratulated Navarro on his appointment and highlighted his experience in the finance and education sectors.
"I am pleased to announce that Bernie Navarro will be the next Ambassador to the Republic of Peru. Bernie is a highly respected leader in real estate finance and economic recovery. Additionally, he is passionate about education, having served as the chair of the Board of Trustees of Miami Dade College, the largest university in the United States," he stated.
Trump recalled that Navarro holds a degree in International Finance from the University of Miami and has a postgraduate degree in Government from Harvard University, giving him a solid background in global economics and high-level financial transactions.
"His experience in finance, commerce, education, and relations between the United States and Peru will enable him to be a strong advocate for U.S. interests in Peru. Congratulations, Bernie!" Trump concluded excitedly.
Apparently, the newly appointed ambassador to Peru is a supporter of Donald Trump's immigration policy.
This can be inferred from a post on his account on X, where he reposted a message from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stating that the elimination of visas for foreigners will continue.
"We will continue to revoke the visas of those whose presence or activities could have potentially serious adverse consequences for our country's foreign policy. And we will continue to use all available legal means to eliminate foreign enemies," Rubio said in the tweet.
Another Cuban-American politician, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez, commented that as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus for Peru, he was proud to congratulate the new ambassador.
"My dear friend, a native of Miami and Cuban-American, Bernie Navarro," said Giménez, adding that "Navarro will make the relationship between the United States and Peru better than ever!"
Trump has entrusted some of the most important positions in his administration's foreign relations to Cuban Americans.
In addition to Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Mauricio Claver-Carone was appointed as special envoy for Latin America, although he has said that he will leave the position.
Also, Cuban-American Kevin Marino Cabrera is an ambassador in Panama, and entrepreneur Benjamín León Jr., of Cuban descent, is one in Spain.
