The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, condemned through his social media the stabbing of a police officer, which took place on Thursday in the boulevard of Camagüey.
The incident occurred when a man stabbed the officer several times on the sidewalk, where many people ran away in panic at the scene.
In a message on his X account, Marrero expressed that the reprehensible act "deserves the firm condemnation of the people" and announced that the weight of revolutionary justice "will fall upon the perpetrator."

"Events like these are incompatible with our society and will not be tolerated," he emphasized.
However, rather than generating solidarity, his words provoked a wave of criticism and rejection on digital platforms, where users accused him of hypocrisy and of using a double standard when condemning violence.
Users reminded the leader that many Cuban women have been victims of femicide in recent years without the government making similar statements.
“Women are committing suicide because they have no food for their children, and I don’t see any outcry; that life doesn’t matter,” wrote a user in response.
Another direct comment accused the regime: "You are all a mafia, a gang of HYPOCRITES."
They also remembered the political repression.
"What do you say, Marrero, about the police who kill protesters who are merely demanding freedom and rights?" questioned an internet user, recalling cases like that of Diubis Luarencio Tejeda, a protester from 11J who was killed by an officer.
"Equally reprehensible are the repression and imprisonment that thousands of Cubans have endured for peacefully expressing their opposition to the regime you represent and defend," stated the user identified as Liborio in Cuba.
For many, the media and official attention that this attack has received, in contrast to the silence surrounding other acts of violence—especially against women not connected to those in power—demonstrates that in Cuba, some victims are valued more than others.
"She, because she is from the PNR, was featured on the NTV. Once again, the women of the people are worth nothing," questioned another user, while a woman demanded: "I hope that now, in honor of this officer, measures will be taken, because so far feminicides have been ignored."
The activist Irma Broek shared on Facebook a video from a security camera that shows how the events unfolded.
In the recording, you can see how the agent was standing and talking with another woman when suddenly a strong man appears a few meters away. Upon seeing him, the woman prepares to leave with her companion and takes a few steps.
The man threw down a cigarette and a can of beer he had in his hand, then began to stab her right on the sidewalk. The people present ran away, except for the woman who was with the police, who tried to defend her by hitting the attacker with an umbrella.
In Irma Broek's opinion, the images show that the attack had no political implications.
"The incident has absolutely no political connotation; the couple was separated due to allegedly infidelity issues involving the official!" he claimed.
Broek identified the assailant as Osmanen Pichardo, and specified that he was arrested following a police operation on Calle Medio.
The incident was described as "reprehensible" by the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) in a statement that was even read on the news.
According to the official notice published, the attacker acted with "cruelty" and endangered the agent's life.
The information highlighted the support the victim received from the citizens present at the scene, which, along with the response from the authorities, enabled the quick apprehension of the attacker.
"The detainee was taken to the investigating body and will face the full weight of revolutionary justice," the statement concluded.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta stated on Instagram that the police officer would be named "Dayana" and that she received six stab wounds.
The agent continues to receive medical attention, while her clinical progress remains unknown. Meanwhile, the case has sparked a new chapter in the national conversation about violence, power, and justice in Cuba.
