Chocolate’s girlfriend shares her version of the arrest and calls for urgent help for the reggaeton artist: "There is still time."

Chocolate was arrested on Tuesday morning, his ninth arrest since 2016.

Yelena Ramírez, the girlfriend of Chocolate, has issued a plea for help following the singer's most recent arrest. She has asked for assistance, warning that everyone has the opportunity to intervene and not leave him alone as they did with El Taiger.

“I know that Yosvany has a huge heart. The only thing is that he is not well”, said the young woman in an interview with Telemundo 51.

Yelena assures that the singer is emotionally overwhelmed.

“He is not well, he needs help, and they have left him alone. The same thing they did with El Taiger, that they left him alone. They are not taking care of their artists,” he pointed out.

"When something happens to him, then everyone will want him... just like they did with El Taiger. They're still in time.", he reiterated.

The young woman emphasized that Yosvanys Sierra Arismin -the real name of Chocolate- needs support and companionship from his fans and family.

Regarding the reasons that have brought Chocolate to his current situation, he remarked: "Many things are happening, many betrayals, both from friends and women. It's just too much."

Yelena's account of the events that led to Chocolate's arrest

Yelena Ramírez explained that she and Chocolate had planned to stay at a hotel the day before the court date that the reggaeton artist had this Wednesday for another legal case.

She recounted that she went home to change clothes and received a call from prison. She says that she started to cry and that from the other side, Chocolate said to her: “They messed me up.”

Yelena's account of the incident differs from what is stated in the arrest warrant that several media outlets have recently disclosed.

“The boy drives by in a car and films him. That bothers him because obviously you don’t want to be recorded without your consent,” he said, never referencing the alleged weapon with which he threatened the fan, something that was captured by the security cameras at the location.

“Yosvany was in bad shape, very bad, not thinking straight at that moment”, the young woman noted, and added that Chocolate would have told the fan:

"I'm not going to do anything to you, I'm not going to take the car because I'm not like that. So he goes to the hotel to wait for me, but it seems the man followed him, saw where he was, and called the police," the young woman concluded.

Yelena Ramírez did not mention that Chocolate had demanded money from the fan, or that he held him in the car for a couple of hours driving around the city before letting him go, which is noted in the arrest warrant.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Chávez supermarket in Opa-locka on the morning of Tuesday, June 3rd.

The prosecutor's office indicated that the weapon used appears to be a replica or a toy, but formal charges were still filed.

A consulted lawyer stated to the mentioned outlet that a person who commits another crime while out on bail is typically not granted bail again. Another reason they may deny bail is if the individual is on probation and is arrested again.

Indeed, Chocolate was denied bail this Wednesday.

Yelena Ramírez left a message for her partner: "My love, I love you, and don't worry, at least I won't leave you alone."

Chocolate has accumulated nine arrests since 2016 and is currently facing five active legal proceedings.

Chocolate's legal situation complicates: Judicial recidivism and a lengthy list of charges

The singer did not appear on Tuesday for another pending hearing related to a previous case, in which he was to respond to charges of robbery and solicitation of first-degree murder.

In his absence, the judge scheduled a new appearance for this Wednesday, but the reggaeton artist's arrest due to the new case prevented him from attending.

Chocolate MC is now facing four additional open legal proceedings, and with this new case, the total rises to five.

Among the previous charges are: Burglary of a vacant home

-Possession of controlled substances.

-Attempted use of controlled substances.

-Criminal damages between $200 and $1,000.

-Written threats of murder or injury.

-Illegal use of telecommunications devices.

In one of these processes, he is accused of having made death threats against Damian Valdez-Galloso, the man accused of the murder of fellow reggaeton artist El Taiger.

Artist's previous statements

Interestingly, just a few days before this new arrest, Chocolate MC had given an exclusive interview to Telemundo 51, in which he stated that he was going through a process of personal change:

“I’m going to stay calm, I’m going to try to keep track, I’m going to try to get the police to leave me alone”, the artist stated in remarks to journalist Yusnaby Pérez.

In that same conversation, the reggaeton artist acknowledged his past mistakes and expressed his desire to improve: “I have children, I have a family. And I know it's time to change habits.”

The new arrest comes just a week after the artist was released on bail on May 25, following a brief stay in prison.

The mother of Chocolate, who resides in Spain, has publicly requested that a visa be granted to her to travel to the United States and take care of her son, claiming that he has drug addiction issues, that he has lost his mind and that his life is in danger.

Since his arrival in the United States in 2017 on a cultural visa, Chocolate MC has been arrested nine times, complicating his legal situation and his stay in the country even further.

Chocolate has had a deportation order since 2022, but the Cuban government does not accept it.
