A Cuban has amazed social media by showcasing how his home remains fully operational during a blackout, thanks to a solar panel system that powers everything from air conditioning to the kitchen.

In a video shared on TikTok, the user explains in detail how he has installed and configured his solar system, which includes 16 panels of 555 W each, generating about 9 kW of power solely from sunlight.

"Right now, there is no electricity, everything is powered solely by the sun," he states while showing that all the household appliances are on: fans, lights, refrigerators, induction stove, and two air conditioners.

The heart of the system is an 8 kW SUNGOLD POWER hybrid inverter, with no batteries installed yet, and connected through two MPPT inputs that optimize generation according to the structure of the panels: a combination of series and parallel connections to achieve 200 V for each input.

The system also includes a control panel, lightning protection, and remote monitoring via Wi-Fi, allowing you to manage energy from anywhere, even outside the country.

"From dawn until dusk, I am generating electricity solely with the panels," he explains while showing the rooftop equipped with a sturdy metal structure where the solar modules rest.

This type of energy solution has gained interest in Cuba, where power outages are frequent and prolonged, impacting the daily lives of millions of people.

This case of the Cuban demonstrates that, with investment and ingenuity, it is possible to utilize natural resources to achieve energy independence, at least during the day.

Frequently Asked Questions about Energy Solutions and Blackouts in Cuba

How do some Cubans manage to maintain electricity during power outages?

Some Cubans have installed solar panel systems to keep their homes operational during power outages. These systems may include solar panels, inverters, and sometimes batteries to store energy. Examples of this can be seen in various videos, showcasing how these installations enable the powering of appliances and other essential equipment.

What impact do blackouts have on the daily lives of Cubans?

Blackouts severely impact the daily lives of Cubans, affecting everything from food refrigeration to the ability to cook and rest properly. Many families have to resort to alternative methods, such as charcoal stoves or generators, to cope with the situation, which reflects the creativity and resilience of the Cuban people in the face of the energy crisis.

Why are power outages so frequent in Cuba?

Power outages in Cuba are due to a chronic energy crisis that has worsened in recent years. Factors such as the lack of maintenance of thermoelectric plants, fuel shortages, and aging infrastructure contribute to this situation. Despite the government's promises to improve supply, outages remain constant.

What energy solutions are being implemented in Cuba to mitigate blackouts?

Some energy solutions in Cuba include the installation of solar parks and the use of photovoltaic systems in private homes. However, these solutions are still insufficient to meet the country's energy demand, and many Cubans must seek individual alternatives to cope with power outages.
