The Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) responded to a multi-vehicle crash and a car fire near 200 West Copans Rd. According to investigators, a 16-year-old teenager was driving a 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, with another 17-year-old female passenger and three male passengers, heading west on West Copans Road.

They were approaching Leisure Boulevard when a 2021 Toyota Sienna, driven by an 82-year-old man heading south, turned left and collided with the Mercedes.

The crash caused the teenager, a student from Santo Tomás de Aquino High School, to lose control of his car, which rolled and collided with a 2015 Lexus RX 350. Additionally, BSO stated that a 2021 Toyota RAV4 traveling east was also hit.

The 16-year-old boy died and the other four teenagers in the Mercedes-Benz were hospitalized. Two people who were in the Lexus were also admitted, according to local media.
