The number of fatalities from the massive accident that occurred on Sunday in the municipality of Majagua, Ciego de Ávila, has risen to four, as confirmed this Sunday by the official broadcaster Radio Surco.

The new victim is Yordanis Fernández Garrido, a 23-year-old young man who died at the Roberto Rodríguez Hospital in Morón, where he had been admitted after suffering serious injuries in the incident.

Furthermore, authorities reported that a 14-year-old teenager remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgery, with no further updates provided about his progress so far.

In a later post, Radio Surco provided a more detailed medical report on the incident that took place near Río Grande, in the Majagua municipality.

According to the report, 33 patients were treated in the emergency room of the Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital, of which 7 were minors.

Of them, 9 patients with cranial and thoracic traumas —including 3 children— were referred to the Roberto Rodríguez Fernández Provincial General Teaching Hospital in Morón.

As of the report's closure, the death toll had risen to four: Maikol Dayan Torres González, 13 years old; Daniel Sarmiento Domínguez, 16; Lian Poso Duane, 14; and Yordanis Fernández Garrido, 23, who died at the Morón hospital.

At the Antonio Luaces hospital, 24 people remain hospitalized. Among them is an adult with severe chest trauma, while four pediatric patients are hospitalized with multiple traumas but are not in life-threatening condition. The rest continue to be under medical observation for the next 24 hours.

Previously, it was reported that three patients were in critical condition, including a child whose life was in imminent danger due to severe injuries sustained.

The accident occurred in the morning of Sunday, July 6, when a state vehicle from the Hydraulic Resources Company, with license plate B-236623, overturned on the stretch of Río Grande, between Marroquín and Majagua. The car was carrying several people and lost control, leading to the tragedy.
