A traffic accident was reported on the morning of this Wednesday on the Malecón avenue, right at the curve near the Anti-Imperialist Tribune in Havana.

Two vehicles —a light jeep and a white car— collided violently, causing severe material damage.

The incident was reported by user Alexander Ríos Cruz in the Facebook group Accidents, Fires, and More, where he shared an image of the wreck. In the photograph, the jeep is seen crashed against the retaining wall, and the car is completely destroyed, both in the roadway.

According to Ríos Cruz, the incident occurred in an area where the speed limit is 50 kilometers per hour, a measure established to reduce risks in that high-traffic section with slippery pavement.

So far, there has been no information on whether there were any injuries or the extent of injuries, if any. Emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, were present at the scene, indicating the seriousness of the incident and the need for a swift response from rescue services.

Accidents of this kind on the Malecón in Havana have become increasingly frequent, especially on tight curves like the one at the Tribuna, where speed and the lack of clear signage contribute to risky situations.

Recently, the National Road Safety Commission reported that, as of May 2025, there have been 3,035 accidents in Cuba, resulting in 2,670 injuries and 290 fatalities.

Official statistics indicate that there are fewer incidents, but deaths have increased, especially among pedestrians and drivers of vulnerable vehicles such as bicitaxis, motorcycles, and mopeds, whose involvement continues to rise.
