Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvani Sierra Hernández, known as Chocolate MC, surprised his followers with a message posted from prison in which he claimed to have had a religious experience and dedicated his life to God.

“I found Christ, and I am now completely devoted to the Lord, leaving everything in His hands and letting His will be done,” said the artist in a phone interview with journalist and influencer Yusnabi Perez.

He added that he has moved past the "false idolatries" and, after praying, received forgiveness for all his mistakes. He then dedicated a prayer to his followers, urging them to keep the faith.

The statements come amidst a legal process that has Chocolate in one of the most challenging stages of his career.

On August 19, the trial against him would begin for the case accusing him of threatening and conspiring to murder Damian Valdez Galloso, the main suspect in the homicide of urban singer El Taiger.

During the preliminary hearing held this Monday, Judge Hirsch ordered that the witness depositions be conducted immediately to avoid further delays.

The artist is facing two main charges: written threats of death or causing bodily harm and first-degree murder solicitation, which is considered a first-degree felony in the state of Florida.

If found guilty, Chocolate MC could face a life sentence.

The 34-year-old reggaeton artist, known as “Rey del Reparto,” is also being held in connection with another unrelated case after being arrested on June 2, accused of kidnapping and armed robbery against a fan.

Although it was proven that the weapon was fake, a court denied him bail for violating the conditions of a previous release.

With this process, there are now five open cases in Florida and his ninth arrest in eight years, confirming the controversial trajectory of the artist, who alternates musical successes with ongoing legal issues.
