Cuban regime presents book against Marco Rubio as a "tribute" to Fidel Castro's birthday

For Havana, Rubio represents the threat of a voice that combines ethnic legitimacy and real power in Washington. By attacking him, they reinforce the narrative that the opposition within the island is directed and funded from abroad.

The Cuban regime surprised once again with a gesture steeped in political extravagance. The recent presentation in Havana of the book 'Rubio. An Uncontrollable Mythomaniac' served as an occasion to pay tribute to the late dictator Fidel Castro.

"Despite the obstacles faced in bringing this volume to fruition, with the selfless help of several collaborators, it was possible to produce an initial run of 300 copies, which was completed on an important and symbolic date for the Cuban people: August 13, Fidel's birthday," explained Graciela Ramírez, head of the Resumen Latinoamericano correspondence in Cuba.

Published by the Editorial Ciencias Sociales with the support of Resumen Latinoamericano, the volume was described by its promoters as a "political and moral anatomy" of the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who is accused of being funded by the CIA and leading the "regime change" campaigns against Cuba.

The printing of the first 300 copies, completed on August 13, coinciding with Castro's birthday, gave the publication a "symbolic" character, produced by the official journalist Hedelberto López Blanch.

During the presentation, René González Sehwerert, one of the so-called "Five Heroes" (failed spies of the regime) and author of the preface, described the text as a contribution to understanding "the corrupting machinery of U.S. politics."

In his remarks, he pointed out that Rubio represents an intermediary link between the old leaders of the Cuban American Foundation and the current opposing youtubers, all "profiting from the same business" of attacking the Cuban regime, albeit with different tools depending on the era.

Beyond the accusations against the U.S. official, what has garnered the most attention is the propagandistic tone and the date chosen for the publication.

Turning Castro's birthday into an opportunity to launch a book of insults against a foreign adversary confirms just how deeply official rhetoric remains rooted in confrontation and in the cult of the figure of the deceased dictator.

The Cuban regime's animosity towards Marco Rubio

The hostility of the Cuban regime towards Marco Rubio is not new, but in recent years it has reached an almost obsessive level.

For Havana, the current U.S. Secretary of State embodies the figure of the external enemy with internal roots: a Cuban American who, from the highest levels of power in Washington, has become one of the main critics of the dictatorship.

Rubio has repeatedly denounced the systematic violations of human rights on the island, pointing out repression, arbitrary incarcerations, and forced exile as intrinsic to the DNA of the Cuban political system.

In national and international forums, he has described the regime as a threat to regional security, due to its alignment with Russia, China, Iran, and other authoritarian allies.

In addition, he has pushed for sanctions against judges, prosecutors, and officials linked to the repression of July 11, and has supported visa restrictions for high-ranking members of the Cuban government. His messages on symbolic dates, such as the anniversary of the 11J protests, are often received in Cuba as direct jabs at the ruling elite.

The regime's reaction has been virulent. Official media label him as a "mythomaniac," "corrupt," or "an instrument of the CIA," while Cuban dissidents are accused of being "paid agents" who act under his orders. Even figures like the chancellor Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla have publicly insinuated that Rubio "instructs" the internal opposition to destabilize the country.

This clash is not only political but also symbolic. For the Cuban government, Rubio represents the threat of a voice that combines ethnic legitimacy and real power in Washington.

By attacking him, they reinforce the narrative that the opposition within the island is directed and funded from abroad. Therefore, it is not surprising that the official propaganda, like the book presented in Havana, places him at the center of its confrontational rhetoric, and that the unfortunate date is chosen to present the dictator with a new "revolutionary holocaust."
