Authorities deny that a minor has died from dengue in Matanzas

The Ministry of Public Health in Matanzas dismissed on Thursday the rumors regarding the alleged death of a child from dengue in the province.

The health authorities of Matanzas categorically denied on Thursday the rumors circulating on social media about the alleged death of a minor due to dengue.

In an official note published by the General Directorate of Health of the territory, it was stated that "the rumor regarding the death of a child in our province due to dengue is completely false".

The statement adds that, after verifying the information, it was confirmed that there have been no deaths related to this disease during the current period in Matanzas.

The authorities reiterated that the provincial health system maintains strict epidemiological surveillance, and that vector control measures and timely medical care are being applied in response to any suspected cases of contagion.

Furthermore, they urged citizens not to spread rumors or unverified information that could cause alarm among the population, and reminded them that for any concerns, the Epidemiological Surveillance Department's telephone number is available: +53 5 2854043.

The health situation in Matanzas continues to be monitored weekly by the authorities, who aim to contain the outbreak before the end of the year. However, the current material conditions are still limiting the effectiveness of actions on the ground.
