A man entered the Camagüey Maternity Hospital dressed as an on-call doctor, toured two wards, and reached the maternity area, where he examined several pregnant women before leaving without raising any suspicion.

The incident, which occurred a few months ago and was confirmed by family members and healthcare personnel, was revealed by journalist José Luis Tan Estrada, who exposed serious security failures at the facility.

According to the testimonies, the fake doctor entered wearing a doctor's coat, went through two rooms and then went up to the maternity ward.

First, he performed in Hall E and later in Hall A, where some patients noticed the anomaly as he was leaving. Shortly after, he was arrested while trying to enter the Oncology Hospital, still dressed as a doctor.

Workers at the center explained that no one questioned it because "the staff is always changing" and there were no guards to control access.

“There is no security in this hospital”, acknowledged an employee. Present nurses added that they took him for a new doctor.

Hospital sources indicated that this was not the first time the individual had entered: he would have taken advantage of this modus operandi to steal cell phones, fans, and other equipment.

"That time, apparently, things became complicated and she decided to impersonate a doctor in front of the pregnant women," said a worker to Tan Estrada.

The case revealed vulnerabilities in input controls, credential verification, and supervision in sensitive areas such as maternity.

No additional injuries or subsequent disciplinary measures were reported, but the incident raised concerns about the lack of protection for patients in a critical service.

Months ago, a story emerged about a scammer in Havana who posed as a relative of a critically ill patient to gain the trust of other family members in hospitals and then stole their belongings.

The man claimed that his mother was seriously ill and that he was facing financial difficulties, which evoked compassion in those who listened to him.

Holguín, in addition, a woman was posing as a nurse to rent delivery beds.
