A Cuban citizen is one of three suspects facing serious charges for breaking into a woman's home in Miami-Dade County, assaulting her multiple times and threatening her with death, authorities reported.
Raydel Sánchez, 37 years old and from Cuba, along with Jerry Byron, 38, and Johanna Kuhn, 21, were arrested by agents of the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office (MDSO) as the alleged perpetrators of the attack on the victim on July 16, local media reports stated.
According to the arrest report, the assault occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. that day, at a location not disclosed in the police document.
Earlier, the victim had alerted the police after witnessing Byron dragging another woman toward a nearby house.
While the agents were investigating the case, the three accused broke down the back door of the victim's house and burst in.
The police report states that once inside the home, Sánchez grabbed the woman by her shirt, tearing it, and yelled: “B****, are you going to let us in here or will we kill you?” She attempted to make a call to ask for help from her family, and then Byron snatched the cell phone from her.
The situation escalated after the police officers left the area. In the yard, Sánchez hit the woman with an umbrella and Byron kicked her.
She managed to escape in her vehicle, but the Cuban followed her to another residence and attempted to hit her, according to the report. Later, the victim returned home, where Sánchez was waiting for her and struck her on the back with a baseball bat.
The agents arrived shortly after and arrested him, while Kuhn was identified and detained later, noted Local10 News citing the MDSO report. Police records also confirm Byron's arrest.
The three suspects are each facing a charge of armed robbery or injury, aggravated injury, and robbery with intimidation.
The Cuban has an extensive criminal record, which includes multiple charges of assault, robbery, drug possession, evidence tampering, and others, according to online records from the Miami-Dade County court.
Byron is being held without bail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK), just like Kuhn, while Sánchez remains at the Metrowest Detention Center. The bail for the latter two is listed in the records as "pending establishment."
