In the comments on the post, an internet user claimed that both went to cross the river but got lost, and they have not been found yet.

Esther Lamoru, who identified herself as the sister-in-law of one of the missing persons, urged caution with the information given the uncertainty surrounding what happened.

"Gentlemen, my apologies, it is still unknown what happened to Luis. Please do not jump to conclusions; this is not child's play. We will wait (...). The rescue and salvage team is working to verify the loss of life. I am his sister-in-law, Celito's wife," wrote the woman.

Until now, the authorities in Holguín have not confirmed the tragic event.

The Weather Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology (Insmet) announced cloudy skies and some showers, rain, and thunderstorms for this Thursday in the eastern part of the country.

Meanwhile, it maintains a strict watch over the tropical storm Melissa, which continues to move slowly and strengthen over the central Caribbean Sea and could reach hurricane category within the next 48 hours.

According to the predictions from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States, the tropical system could develop into a major hurricane by the end of the weekend.

Melissa represents a "potential threat" to the island, warned Cuban meteorologists, and it is expected to generate surges and strong waves in the eastern region in the coming days.
