At the bakery Mi Luz, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the aroma of freshly baked bread transports many Cubans back to their childhood.

There, a Cuban baker has achieved something that seemed almost impossible in Spain: reproducing the traditional libra bread and soft bon-style bread, two classics of Cuban bakery.

The video shared by the TikTok profile @pasteleria_mi_luz shows the artisan making bread with the crispy crust and soft, fluffy crumb that characterize authentic Cuban bread.

This type of "baguette" or "pound" bread is perfect for enjoying fresh with butter, but it's not the only item in Cuban cuisine that is hard to find around the world. The same applies to Cuban soft bread used for snacks with roast pork.

In Spain, Cuban soft bread is almost a rarity. Some compare it to mollete bread, but its texture and flavor are unlike it.

My Light has become a small corner of Cuba in the Canary Islands, where the taste of the island's bread brings the Cuban diaspora together around a simple yet powerful tradition: freshly baked bread.
