The president Donald Trump arrived in Miami on Wednesday to participate in the America Business Forum, an event that gathers business, political, and sports leaders from around the world.
His visit coincides with the first anniversary of his reelection for a second term and aims to project an image of economic strength and international leadership, at a time when inflation and the cost of living remain the top concerns for Americans.
From early on, the White House and official communication channels promoted the day as a milestone in their administration.
On his account on X, the presidential team posted: "POTUS is in Miami, where he will speak at the U.S. Business Forum on the first anniversary of his incredible electoral comeback. MAGA!"
Another message from Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary, indicated that the President would deliver "an important speech on the economy at 1 PM Eastern Time."
The speech, as indicated by sources from the White House quoted by ABC News, will address the key pillars of Trump's economic agenda: deregulation, energy independence, oil prices, job growth, and affordability.
The president aims to emphasize how the foreign investments secured during his trips to Asia—including agreements with Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia—"will directly benefit American communities," said a senior official who requested anonymity.
During the past week, Trump completed a tour of Asia focused on easing trade tensions with China and promoting new energy and technology projects.
In Tokyo, according to the White House, the leader secured funding for several energy infrastructure programs with Japanese capital. In Beijing, he held a meeting with President Xi Jinping that, according to his advisors, would have "improved bilateral trust."
The choice of Miami as the backdrop for the speech is not coincidental.
The city’s mayor, Francis Suarez, described the presidential visit as "one of the highlights of the forum" and affirmed that the recent trips by the president "have been transformative for his presidency."
The event, which the organizers describe as a more accessible version of the World Economic Forum in Davos, aims to position Miami as a new hub for global economic debate.
Additionally, Trump's presence underscores the growing political and symbolic weight of South Florida during his second term.
The White House confirmed that the next G20 summit will be held at Trump National Doral, one of the president's golf clubs, despite criticism over potential conflicts of interest. Trump has insisted that his family business "will not profit" from hosting the event.
Miami is also one of the main contenders to host Donald Trump's presidential library, a project currently embroiled in legal disputes over the land grant in the city center.
In parallel, the city is preparing to be one of the host venues for the 2026 World Cup, an event that the president has promoted as "the beginning of a new era of global prominence for the United States."
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, a close ally of Trump, will also take part in this Wednesday's forum.
The meeting brings together high-profile businesspeople, athletes, and politicians, including Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who attends as a special guest.
His presence symbolizes the forum's support for private initiative and democratic values in Latin America, a topic that—according to diplomatic sources—may also be mentioned in the margins of the presidential address.
However, Trump's message comes in a challenging internal context.
A recent survey by AP Voter Poll, conducted in several states, revealed that voters remain deeply concerned about the cost of living, high prices, and job opportunities, despite the president's promises to control inflation and sustain growth.
Despite this, the White House is confident that the day in Miami will help to reposition the administration's economic narrative. "The president will speak about optimism, investment, and employment," an official previewed.
"It is a reminder that the U.S. economy remains the strongest in the world, thanks to the leadership of President Trump," he added.
With his intervention in Miami, Trump not only seeks to celebrate his electoral victory but also to reaffirm his role as the architect of the "American economic resurgence."
His message, focused on prosperity, energy, and employment, serves as a precursor to a new phase in the Republican government's strategy: to solidify the economic legacy of his second term while laying the groundwork for the challenges ahead.
