The Provincial Meteorological Center of Ciego de Ávila issued a warning this Friday about the formation of fog and mist banks during the early morning of November 8, due to atmospheric conditions favorable for their development.
According to the Provincial Weather Forecasting Group, the combination of high relative humidity, calm winds and a thermal inversion will promote the occurrence of this phenomenon in various areas of the province, primarily in low-lying and roadside regions.
Local authorities recommended exercising extreme caution on the road, especially during the hours close to dawn, when visibility can be significantly reduced.
The advisory urges drivers to reduce their speed, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and avoid sudden maneuvers while the phenomenon lasts.
The message, circulated under the hashtag #DriveCarefully, aims to prevent traffic accidents during the hours of highest risk.
The meteorological institution warned that fog may become denser in rural areas, intermunicipal roads, and sections close to bodies of water, where the nighttime cooling of the air tends to be more pronounced.
Although it is expected that the conditions will begin to improve with the sunrise, visibility may remain limited in some areas until early morning hours.
The Ciego de Ávila Meteorological Center noted that phenomena of this kind are common in November, when nighttime radiative cooling and increased humidity encourage the formation of morning fog.
However, he emphasized that the current atmospheric stability and the lack of wind create a more persistent scenario of thick fog, with direct effects on vehicle circulation.
With the warning in effect throughout the night, authorities urged the public to keep up with updates from the provincial weather report and to take extra safety precautions on the roads until visibility conditions return to normal during the morning.
For this Saturday, the Forecast Center warned that there would be a partly cloudy day, becoming overcast in the afternoon with isolated showers.
The afternoon will be very hot, with maximum temperatures of 30 ºC inland and ranging between 28 and 29 ºC in the rest of the territory, being lower in coastal areas.
The wind will blow variable and weak, with speeds between 5 and 20 km/h, giving way to the coastal breeze regime in the afternoon.
