Firefighters from the municipality of San José de las Lajas in the Mayabeque province rescued a cat that had become trapped in a mesh on Tuesday, as reported by activist Yenney Caballero.

Caballero explained on Facebook that upon receiving the alert about the feline, he rushed to the scene of the incident, aware of the danger posed by the height at which the animal was located.

"The little cat is now with me safe and sound. Thank the firefighters from the municipality of San José de las Lajas," he wrote while sharing a video of the rescue.

According to their account, the firefighters acted quickly and professionally.

"As soon as I arrived, they took great care of me; they mobilized and came to my rescue. The cat had its little head caught in the mesh, but it looks healthy; it ate some ground meat and drank water," he detailed.

The post, which generated dozens of supportive comments, highlights the role of the Mayabeque fire department, which responded immediately and was able to rescue the cat without any apparent injuries.

"I was very nervous, but they acted quickly," Caballero noted.

After the rescue, the woman thanked everyone who shared her post and announced that she is looking for a responsible adoption for the animal.

“Now to find him a home where he will be cared for and won’t be in danger again,” she added.

The gesture of the rescuers has been celebrated on social media, where users highlighted the sensitivity and quick response of the firefighters to a situation that could have ended tragically.

Also this Tuesday, but in Havana, a group of Cuban firefighters rescued a dog that had been trapped for hours in the ornamental waterfall of the Hotel Nacional, in a new animal rescue operation.

The organization Bienestar Animal Cuba, in its Havana chapter (BAC-Habana), alerted on Facebook about the situation of the animal and urgently requested help from nearby rescuers or volunteers, as well as citizens to contact the firefighters immediately.

"A puppy is trapped in the waterfall of the Hotel Nacional. It's been there for hours, unable to escape and in real danger," published the group, which has been crucial in recent years in advocating for animal rights on the island.

Less than an hour later, BAC-Habana itself reported that the rescue had been successful thanks to the intervention of the fire department.
