A group of Cuban firefighters rescued a dog on Tuesday that had been trapped in the ornamental waterfall of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana, after several hours of distress.

The organization Bienestar Animal Cuba, in its Havana chapter (BAC-Habana), alerted on Facebook about the situation of the animal and urgently requested help from nearby rescuers or volunteers, as well as from citizens to immediately contact the fire department.

"A puppy is trapped in the waterfall of the Hotel Nacional. It has been there for hours, unable to get out and in real danger," the group, which has been instrumental in recent years in defending animal rights on the island, posted.

Less than an hour later, BAC-Habana itself reported that the rescue had been successful thanks to the intervention of the fire department.

"He has already been rescued by the Cuban firefighters. Thank you to everyone," they wrote on the same social media platform where they also requested applause, which turned into gratitude, for the firefighters.

The animal, according to witnesses, was exhausted and very scared, but out of danger.

"And together we are invincible," emphasized the organization, expressing gratitude to the hundreds of supporters who cared about this dog and helped to call the firefighters.

BAC-Habana added that apparently the dog, given its condition, must have escaped from some home.

The rescue of the dog trapped in the waterfall at the Hotel Nacional is not an isolated case. Cuban firefighters have undertaken several similar actions in recent months that demonstrate their commitment to animal welfare, even under precarious conditions.

In Las Tunas, a cat was rescued after being trapped for more than 24 hours in a well, thanks to the alert from neighbors and the swift action of the rescuers. The effort was celebrated as an example of institutional sensitivity.

Another significant incident occurred in Guantánamo, where firefighters managed to rescue a puppy trapped in a burning house.

In that same territory, a cat that had been trapped for days in the enclosed patio of a house was rescued by the fire department following a report by activists.

Similarly, in Sancti Spíritus, another feline was rescued from a rooftop where it had been stranded without water or food.

In another notable event in that same province, workers from the Electric Company and firefighters rescued a dog that had fallen into a deep trench during a public works project.
