An emotional search campaign has been launched on social media to locate the young woman who temporarily adopted a puppy rescued from the fountain of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana, with the aim of reuniting it with its true family.
The notice was shared by activist Elizabeth Lucas Ramírez, who reported that the animal, named Anuel, was rescued in the morning by members of the Fire Department, after being found in the fountain of the iconic hotel.
"The puppy was rescued safe and sound by the firefighters. I personally made the call and was at the scene," Lucas explained in a message shared with the Animal Care and Pets groups in Havana.
According to the report, a young woman who was at the scene voluntarily offered to take the puppy in at her home, unaware that the animal had an owner who was desperately searching for it.
The dog's owner, identified as Ofelia, has been located and is requesting community assistance to recover her pet.
Anyone with information or who is the young person who took in the puppy can contact the owner directly at phone number 5869 8904.
The story has generated a wave of solidarity among the people of Havana and animal advocates, who are grateful for the swift action of the firefighters and the good intentions of the young adopter.
