A Cuban identified as Flaco Camagüey (@angelflacocmg) went viral on TikTok after showcasing how his house in the city of Camagüey is turning out. In the videos, he features a modern home, complete with decorative ceilings, designer lamps, and unusual furniture for the country. “It’s not finished, but my little house in Cuba is coming along,” he wrote, and immediately thousands of users reacted.

The content sparked admiration and debate among Cubans both inside and outside the island. “This one is indeed crowned, you’re right, in the United States there’s no life, only work,” commented a user. Flaco responded: “The future in the United States is uncertain for any Latino, unfortunately even more so for those with I-220A,” referring to Cuban migrants with open cases in that country.

Many celebrated his example and agreed that it shows it is possible to make progress within Cuba despite the crisis. “No matter where the money comes from, you had to fight for it,” commented a follower. The creator himself stated that he has worked in phases and with his own effort.

Flaco also shared details about the project. He mentioned that each window cost him around 130,000 pesos and that he designed the house himself. "Incredibly, I did everything and I know nothing about that," he admitted.

Congratulations poured in. "Everything is looking so beautiful," wrote one follower, while others expressed feeling motivated. "I will follow in your footsteps, I want my little house to look like that," commented another user. The creator encouraged them: "It's too late to wait, we have to go for it."

Criticism was not lacking. An internet user accused him of showing off "among so much misery," and Flaco responded: "Envy is oozing out of you, but that's normal; those who can't do anything criticize both in the Keys and in Cuba."

Beyond the controversy, his videos showcase the reality of many Cubans who choose to invest in their country and build their own homes, despite the material and economic limitations imposed by life on the island.
