Wayota OD arrived in Cuba for the first time in March of this year with the intention of recording a music album and sharing her life experience on the island. Shortly after her arrival, she faced power outages and shortages, experiences she recounted on social media with astonishment and respect for the resilience of the Cuban people. However, his experience was not without difficulties. In April, he reported having been the victim of a scam during one night in Havana, where a woman stole money and belongings from him while he slept, as he recounted in a video published after the incident .
A month later, on the first anniversary of his arrival on the island, he shared an optimistic message in which he said: “Life gave me a second chance, and I decided to leave everything behind to move to the island of blackouts to make my own music,” additionally stating that “no matter what happens, I will not regret it.” This testimony was reflected in another of his posts about his life in Cuba, where he showcased scenes from his daily life and celebrated having completed his album.
Weeks later, he announced that he needed to return to Spain for surgery following a relapse related to the stroke he suffered years earlier. In a video, he explained: “I need to have surgery urgently. I still don’t know what might happen to me. I haven’t left yet, but I already want to return. Here in Cuba, I found something unique,” as stated in his message prior to the operation .
Her current return, months after that intervention and a lengthy rehabilitation process, marks a new chapter in her history. Although she hasn’t revealed details about her plans, she hinted that she is working on a new artistic project by stating that she is “preparing something big.”
