The renowned Argentine pastor Dante Gebel sent humanitarian aid to Cuba amidst the acute health crisis caused by multiple viruses that have spread throughout the country and are affecting an unprotected population with inadequate medical services.

Gebel made the announcement of the donation on his social media this Wednesday: “Our team of missionaries is already in Cuba, in the city of Camalote,” he wrote. “Right now they are facing a major health crisis due to various viruses transmitted by mosquitoes. Today we distributed bags of food to families.”

Her post, which has gone viral, is accompanied by more than a dozen photographs documenting the distribution of hundreds of food bags to the residents of the locality of Camalote, in Camagüey, one of the provinces hardest hit by arboviruses, particularly the chikungunya.

Hundreds of people came to receive assistance, provided by staff from the Misión Graneros, an initiative of River Church, the church led by Gebel in Anaheim, California, which promotes a social support program that supplies food and other essential supplies to vulnerable communities in several countries.

This is not the first time that the pastor of River Church, who is also a speaker and lecturer, has activated his charitable mission in Cuba. In November 2024, missionaries from his church arrived in the country with a donation of food for individuals affected by hurricanes that struck the east and west of the island during that time.

In a locality in the province of Mayabeque, numerous people gathered near a local church to receive donations. Additionally, toys and bicycles were given to the children.

River Church has also contributed to the construction of homes for the elderly in rural communities and the installation of solar panels to mitigate the prolonged blackouts experienced by the population.

Dante Gebel is widely known in the global Hispanic community for the inspiring and charismatic way he delivers his sermons from the River Arena in California, as well as for his significant humanitarian contributions in various countries.

In 2018, he had a series of performances scheduled in Cuba, but the island's regime denied him entry due to concerns about his ability to rally and organize the masses and influence public opinion.
