A Cuban woman identified on TikTok as @saylinpazos reported that she ended up in the hospital after visiting a Cuban restaurant in Orlando, Florida.
In a video posted from a stretcher, the woman warned her followers:
"This is because I went to a Cuban restaurant that was heavily promoted around here, and I ended up getting food poisoning. When you decide to go to a Cuban restaurant, make sure to do your research and don't get swayed by the promotions here."
In the recording, Saylin is seen lying on a hospital bed, clearly unwell, while warning other Cubans about the danger of blindly trusting places that advertise on social media.
Her post generated dozens of supportive comments and discussions. Some users expressed concern and backing:
"That smells like a lawsuit," wrote one. "Excuse me, maybe you're allergic to something. Don't worry, everything will turn out fine," commented another person. "Every day confirms that I continue to cook at home," noted an internet user.
Other users recalled that food poisoning can happen at any type of restaurant: "I don't think it's all Cuban restaurants; it can happen at any restaurant. I hope you recover soon."
So far, the young woman has not revealed the name of the establishment nor whether she has filed any formal complaint.
Her case reopens the debate on food security in Latin food businesses in the United States, especially in cities with a large Cuban community like Orlando, where competition and promotion on social media are becoming increasingly intense.
