A tragic accident on Interstate 95 in Virginia claimed the life of 23-year-old Cuban Diego Murgia Ramos, a father who worked tirelessly to support his family in the United States. His death has left a profound sadness among his loved ones, who are now trying to raise funds to repatriate his body and give him a dignified burial.

According to Daily Voice, Murgia Ramos left his home in Washington D.C. on the morning of November 19 to begin his workday driving a truck with a trailer.

Hours later, around 2:00 p.m., their vehicle went off the road at mile marker 12, near the exit to Route 301, in Greensville County.

The Virginia State Police stated that the truck collided with several trees and overturned, causing the driver to be ejected from the cab. He died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

The U.S. media highlighted that his family described him as "hardworking and full of dreams."

For her mother, Janet Ramos Gutiérrez, the blow has been devastating. “I am living the most painful moment of my life,” she wrote in a GoFundMe created to cover the funeral expenses and the repatriation of the body.

Janet remembered her son as "my 23-year-old boy, hardworking, kind, and full of dreams," and emphasized that Diego was the emotional and financial support of their home. "My son was my strength, the pillar of our family," she expressed.

The young man leaves behind a 4-year-old girl who "adored him" and an 8-year-old sister who "can't understand why her brother is no longer here." The family claims that the loss has left "a huge void" and that they were not prepared to face the costs of a funeral or the transportation of the body.

In the fundraising campaign, which has already surpassed $13,900 of a $20,000 goal, the mother humbly asked for help: "Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to providing peace and beginning to heal this deep pain."

Friends, acquaintances, and supportive individuals have responded with messages of support and donations to stand by the family during this unexpected and heartbreaking time.

“Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your prayers, your support, and your kindness,” the mother wrote. “May God bless you, and may my son rest in eternal peace.”

The campaign Help Us Bring Diego Murgia Ramos Home remains active as the family organizes the funeral arrangements and hopes to say goodbye to him as he deserves.
