Cubans will once again feel the winter air this week with the arrival of a cold front that will impact the country starting Monday morning, primarily in the western region. While it might not be enough to bring out the coats, it will certainly cool down the warmth.
The meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez reported on his Facebook account this Sunday that the front will cause an increase in cloud cover, some showers and isolated rains, and a significant drop in temperatures.
According to the specialist, the phenomenon will move towards the center and east of the country on Tuesday, where it may remain stationary, resulting in more persistent rainfall in several areas.
Ruisánchez explained that the change in weather will be accompanied by north winds ranging from 20 to 35 km/h, with stronger gusts along the northern coast, which will result in rough seas and water accumulations in low-lying areas, especially along the western coastline.
Maximum temperatures will range between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius in the west and center, and up to 28 degrees in the east, while minimum temperatures will drop to between 15 and 18 degrees in inland areas.
The coldest early morning, according to the forecast, could be on Wednesday, when cloud cover is expected to decrease and the cold air will be felt more intensely.
The meteorologist advised the public to take precautions due to strong winds and high surf, and to stay alert for upcoming reports from the Cuban Institute of Meteorology (Insmet).
The new front marks the first significant intrusion of cold air in November, which will provide a respite from the heat and bring the country the typical atmosphere of early Cuban winter.
This first cold front of this autumn has brought a significant drop in temperatures to the south of Florida since this weekend.
The system would move through the eastern United States and reach the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area between Sunday and Monday, causing overnight temperatures to drop to 16 degrees Celsius.
However, the most significant change will be felt on Tuesday morning, when temperatures could drop to around 10 degrees Celsius, the lowest figure of the season.
