According to the police report, on August 22, 2024, the suspect went to a Marshalls in Miami, took a suitcase, and filled it with shoes of various prices and sizes that he picked from the shelves. Having done this, he left the store without paying for the footwear, which had a total value of $909.83.

The detainee would use the same modus operandi in the successive heists, although at times he would hide the stolen items in a shopping cart, according to the arrest report.

On the first day of this month, he was caught by the loss prevention team at a Marshalls store while leaving with stolen items. When the employees approached him, he left the bag and fled the scene.

On November 19, he was arrested by the Doral City Police for two thefts of a similar nature at a Ross store, the authorities reported.

However, Cabrera Calero's criminal record is not limited to the events of this past year. In 2022, he had already been arrested for stealing meat from a business in West Miami on at least three occasions, using the same scheme to take the merchandise.

A security camera at the Tropical supermarket recorded him as he hid several packages of meat in a backpack and then left the store without paying for them.

Cabrera Calero was detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) and appeared in court this Tuesday. The judge set a bail of $65,000.
