A video recorded at a street party in La Piragua, along the Malecón in Havana, has gone viral on TikTok, evoking feelings of nostalgia among Cubans both on the island and abroad.
The clip, shared by the user @angel_felix_oficial, shows dozens of young people dancing, singing, and enjoying the rhythm of urban music in the street, in a festive atmosphere that contrasts with the everyday reality experienced in Cuba.
"You can be anywhere in the world, but this is truly missed," wrote the young man alongside the video, which has already garnered thousands of views and comments.
The images show a lively crowd, some wearing bandanas and colorful t-shirts, laughing and chanting songs while recording with their phones. The party seems to have spread across several streets of the Malecón, one of the most iconic areas of Havana.
The video has sparked mixed reactions among users. While many expressed nostalgia for the times when they could enjoy parties like that, others pointed out that "that joy does not erase the harsh reality faced by the Cuban people."
"I miss that hard life," wrote a follower, referring to the popular gatherings that used to be common in the neighborhoods and districts of Havana.
Despite the blackouts, inflation, and the overall crisis hitting the Island, Cubans continue to find spaces for relief and music, keeping alive one of their greatest strengths: the festive spirit.
