The child from Santiago Yordan Corrales Ricardo, aged five, whose disappearance had caused significant alarm in recent days, is now home and doing well.

The news was confirmed on Facebook by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, who reported that the minor has returned to his mother and siblings, bringing an end to days of anguish for the family and the community.

So far, no official details have been provided regarding how the child's reappearance occurred or the responsibility of the adults involved in his absence.

What is known so far comes solely from comments made by users on social media.

According to Mayeta Labrada, the mother—who experienced days of intense worry after losing contact with her child, having left him in the care of a woman close to her family—expressed gratitude for the support of those who shared the report.

The initial post, which went viral, had been the only pressure mechanism to keep the case in the public eye.

Where was Yordan?

In the comments of the post, the user Taimi Pacao claimed to be the one who found the child, who was "with the uncle's wife."

"I took him to the police and he is already with his mom," he revealed.

According to her version, "The problem is that the girl was going to one place and ended up going to another."

Taimi revealed that she found them "in Mijaíl," a locality located in the municipality of Songo-La Maya.

Another voice in the same publication provided a different version.

José Ángel Dupuy, who identified himself as the cousin of the woman who had the child in her possession, emphasized that Yordan's mother had given her permission to take him and that he was always well cared for.

She "is not crazy enough to take a child without permission," she asserted, revealing that the young woman "is in custody."

A story that had raised alarms

Yordan's disappearance became public when his mother, sick and alone with two other children, sought help through social media after a week without any news about the boy.

According to his testimony, the woman who took him - his brother's partner - did so to protect him and prevent him from contracting the virus that his mother has.

But apparently, he moved him between various neighborhoods in Santiago de Cuba and then to Songo La Maya, after which the family lost all contact.

The mother stated at the time that when she went to the police, no search protocol was activated and she was asked to report her own brother, without any immediate investigation being initiated.

Desperate, she published contact numbers and asked for citizens' help to obtain any leads.

This case adds to other recent episodes in which families have had to compensate for the lack of institutional response by using social media as their primary tool for searching.

The important thing: the child is safe

The confirmation that Yordan is healthy and back with his mother is the key piece of information.

The relief expressed by the family and neighbors reflects the immense fear experienced in the days leading up to this moment and the strength of a community that once again had to rely on itself to achieve a positive outcome.

What still needs to be clarified is what happened. But today, at least, a child is safe in their home. And that is the best news.
