The renowned Cuban-American jeweler Carlos Marcelín, a prominent figure in the luxury watchmaking world in Miami, surprised his followers by unveiling his “personal collection” of watches in a video posted on his social media.
In a video shared on his social media, Marcelín showcased exclusive pieces valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars —such as a 60th Anniversary Rolex Presidente, appraised at $60,000; a Patek Philippe 5712 worth $100,000; or a Richard Mille priced at $175,000.
However, the successful entrepreneur confessed that, despite his access to the most prestigious brands in the world, he only has one watch in his personal collection, which carries an emotional story behind it.
“Many have asked me what watches are in my personal collection, and today for the first time I am going to show them,” she commented before revealing a safe filled with empty compartments. “I only have this Rolex Submariner from 1975. It was a gift from my family when I turned 50.”
The jeweler explained that the reason he does not invest in his own collection is simple: “I prefer to invest in my business and grow my wealth. I have been in the business for over 15 years and have access to any watch I want.”
The gesture, far from flaunting luxury, reflected a business philosophy focused on reinvestment and humility. “I don’t need to own them to enjoy them,” he added, making it clear that his passion goes beyond collecting: it’s about building a legacy.
Carlos Marcelín, also known as "Carlos the Watchmaker," has gained popularity for his knowledge in high-end watchmaking and for his inspiring story as a Cuban immigrant who has established himself among the most respected experts in the field.
With over half a million followers on social media, their name has become synonymous with authenticity, success, and elegance, establishing them as one of the most influential voices in the luxury world in Miami.
