The renowned Cuban-American jeweler Carlos Marcelín, one of the most influential figures in the luxury watch market in Miami, showcased one of the most exclusive watches he has handled: a Rolex Day-Date 40 in platinum with an emerald bezel, valued at over $645,000.

In a video posted on his social media, Carlos —commonly known as "Carlos the watchmaker"— explained that in his 14 years of experience in the high-end jewelry business, he has only seen two examples of this model.

It is one of the most exclusive watches I have ever seen, commented the jeweler.

The model in question, the Rolex Day-Date 40 (Ref. 228396TEM), is an off-catalogue piece that does not appear in the official listings of the Swiss brand.

Its 40 mm case is crafted from platinum 950, the densest and most valuable metal used by Rolex, and its bezel is set with perfectly calibrated natural emeralds.

The sphere, entirely paved with diamonds, makes this watch a miniature work of art. “This is not a Rolex that you can simply ask for in a boutique. These pieces are only offered to very specific clients of the brand, by direct invitation,” explained Carlos Marcelín.

The estimated selling price for this model can reach 699,000 dollars in the international market, although its value at private auctions could exceed 700,000, depending on its condition and provenance.

Rolex never publishes official production figures, especially for its high jewelry pieces.

However, industry experts estimate that there may be fewer than a dozen units of the model 228396TEM worldwide, making it one of the most coveted watches among collectors and celebrities.

Carlos Marcelín, born in the humble fishing village of Cojímar, Havana, has become a symbol of success in the world of luxury jewelry and watchmaking in the United States.

Through her social media, she shares stories of personal triumph, unique pieces, and tips on investing in high-end watches.

The influencer, who works with an exclusive clientele in Miami, has stated in several interviews that his mission is to inspire other young Cubans: “Your background does not determine your destiny,” he has said on more than one occasion.

With over half a million followers on Instagram, their name has become synonymous with elegance, knowledge, and authenticity in the competitive luxury world.
