A family reunion shared by the Cuban Liset Gómez (@lisetgomezo2) on TikTok has touched the hearts of thousands both on and off the island. “After so many tears shed over the reunions of others... today it’s my turn to experience mine. There are no words to describe this moment. Only the heart understands”, the young woman wrote alongside a video that encapsulates years of waiting and miles of distance in a single embrace.

The clip, recorded on a street in Camagüey, captures the moment when Liset arrives home and her family rushes to greet her amidst tears and laughter. The song "Hoy" by Gloria Estefan plays in the background as her mother, father, and brother embrace her in a hug that seems to freeze time. The scene, simple and heartfelt, has resonated deeply within the Cuban community, where migration and farewells are part of everyday life.

"Here, those of us who are crying with you today wait for our reunion," wrote a user, reflecting the empathy of many who still dream of returning or reuniting. Other comments like "My turn is almost here and I’ve started crying already" or "Praying a lot for my three children to return as well" show how the video has become a collective outlet, a shared space of hope among strangers who understand the same pain.

"We cry when someone leaves for everything we leave behind, we cry here for the absences, and we cry upon returning out of happiness," wrote another internet user, precisely capturing the shared sentiment of thousands of migrants.

With over 120 comments and thousands of “likes,” Liset's video has become an emotional mirror for those living far from Cuba. “We all need that little band-aid for the heart,” the creator responded to one of the messages, reminding us that, although the distance hurts, love always finds a way to come back home. Hers arrived after three years away.
