Flood alert in Villa Clara: Nearly 200 evacuated



Heavy rains in Villa Clara have caused mass evacuations in Sagua la Grande and Cifuentes. Authorities are working to protect those affected as the situation continues to unfold.

More than 200 people have been evacuated due to the flood alert in Sagua la Grande and Cifuentes, in Villa Clara.

In addition, approximately 100 homes have been affected by the flooding, according to the report by the official journalist Henry Omar Pérez.

The areas of Sitiecito and its surroundings are the most affected, the information specified.

The heavy rains have saturated the soils and caused small rivers to overflow, but the dams in the region remain stable, assured specialist Lizardo González Saavedra from Hydraulic Resources.

On her part, Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas, Vice President of the Provincial Defense Council, stated that “all measures are being taken to protect families” and that authorities on the ground are personally assisting those affected.
