A Cuban living in the United States went viral on TikTok after posting a video in which he responds sternly to those from the island asking him for reloads and money "as if it were nothing."
In the clip shared by the user @osmelfl, the man is seen removing snow from his car while explaining the sacrifice involved in earning the money that many Cubans in Cuba request without appreciating.
"My friends in Cuba write to me and say, ‘Bro, send me a little top-up, that’s nothing for you.’ No, man, it’s nothing—look at this! Here, cotton is falling from the sky," the Cuban remarks as he shows the snow covering his car and his frozen hands.
The man, visibly exhausted, notes that in the United States, the 20 dollars that many Cubans on the island consider "a trifle" are actually the result of significant effort.
"In the United States, 20 pesos are 20 pesos. When a family member sends you money, thank God for giving them health so they can continue to help you, because many of them struggle to send you those 20 dollars," he added.
The Cuban insists that many people in the U.S. deprive themselves of food or rest in order to send money to their relatives in Cuba, and he calls for more respect and gratitude towards those emigrants who financially support many households on the island.
"Don't tell anyone else that 20 dollars in the United States is nothing. It's a lot, it's a sacrifice. Here, one ages quickly, working like a horse," concluded the author of the video, while asking for blessings for those who support their families from exile.
The message has sparked hundreds of comments on TikTok, where many Cubans echoed it and denounced the lack of empathy from some family members in Cuba towards the efforts of emigrants.
