A young Cuban, identified on TikTok as @claudiamayol, has touched the hearts of hundreds by showcasing the process of building her home in Cuba, a project that reflects sacrifice, faith, and perseverance amidst the country's economic challenges.

The Cuban, who currently resides in the United States under the I-220A immigration status, shared a video featuring images of her home in the island before and after, accompanied by the message: “Thank God always, step by step.”

The photographs depict the transformation of an empty and dilapidated space into a home in progress, featuring new structures and a kitchen tiled with new tiles.

The gesture was celebrated by many users, who applauded his decision to invest in his homeland and build something of his own instead of spending money on uncertain immigration procedures.

"You are doing very well and you are smart. Without legal status in that country, it is the best way to feel more at ease," commented a user, referring to the young woman's immigration situation.

Other messages highlighted the satisfaction of seeing Cubans prospering despite the adversities: “It's a tremendous satisfaction to see my people doing their own thing on the land. That’s being smart; if we have to leave, we won't leave empty-handed.”

In recent years, many Cubans with temporary permits or indefinite immigration statuses in the United States, such as the I-220A, have chosen to allocate part of their income to improving or building homes in Cuba.

For many, it represents a way to secure a personal and tangible space for the future, rather than relying on prolonged or uncertain legal processes.

The video by @claudiamayol captures that sentiment with a simple yet powerful phrase: “Thanks to God always, step by step,” reflecting the silent efforts of thousands of Cubans who, despite shortages and migration uncertainty, continue to dream of a dignified home in their homeland.
