The Cuban content creator Maray Dana, known on social media as @mara_dana23, shared an emotional video showcasing how she prepared a delicious Christmas Eve dinner, despite the challenging conditions and blackouts in Cuba.

"That day we would only have two hours of electricity, but I wasn’t going to let that ruin Christmas for my family," the young woman explained in her video, where she is seen cooking with a mix of ingenuity, love, and holiday spirit. Every family member participated in one way or another, and for them, that was the best part.

Maray made the most of the two hours of available electricity to get a head start on the menu.

At the table, the classics of Cuban cuisine were not missing: black beans, white rice, tomato salad and pork cutlets. They also prepared tamales, a craving that, as they confessed, they had not been able to indulge in for years.

The power went out right in the middle of cooking, but rather than giving up, the Cuban lit her two charcoal burners to finish the task. With the charcoal, she not only prepared the flan, but also made a pot of rice pudding and even a panetela.

The result was a true Creole feast. They had to enjoy it without bathing or getting dressed up because of the water shortage and the blackout.

"I know that many celebrate in other ways during this time, but this simple one is ours," the young woman commented. Her message reflects the essence of Cuban cuisine: creating magic with little and turning it into a celebration for the whole family.
