The president Donald Trump posted a Christmas message on his social media this Thursday, in which he combined greetings with strong criticisms of the radical left and a defense of his administration, highlighting economic, security, and immigration policy indicators.
“Happy Christmas to everyone, even to the scum of the radical left who are doing everything possible to destroy our country, but are failing miserably,” wrote Trump, in a confrontational tone that has characterized much of his political discourse.
In the message, the president stated that the United States no longer has open borders, nor policies that allow "men in women's sports" or "transgender for all," and assured that the country now has a stricter enforcement of the law.
"We no longer have open borders, men in women's sports, transgender for everyone, or a weak application of the law," he noted.
Trump also highlighted what he described as record achievements in the economy, including a historic stock market, the strengthening of 401(k) retirement funds, "the lowest crime rates in decades," and "zero inflation."
Additionally, he stated that the Gross Domestic Product growth reached 4.3%, exceeding forecasts by two points.
The president attributed part of that economic performance to his tariff policy, stating that the tariffs have generated "trillions of dollars in growth and prosperity," and asserted that the country is experiencing its strongest moment in national security in history.
“Once again, we are respected, perhaps like never before,” concluded Trump, before closing his message with a “God Bless America” and signing as President DJT.
The Christmas message provoked divided reactions on social media, with supporters celebrating the combative tone of the leader and critics questioning the language used on a date traditionally associated with calls for unity.
"There's nothing more Christian than being a miserable and hateful person on Jesus's birthday! Well done representing the faith, Mr. President!" quipped an internet user.
Another user cut off Trump's message after the first four words of the president ("Merry Christmas to all") and posted a "I fixed it," implying that the rest of the text was unnecessary.
"A sitting president of the United States who uses Christmas Day to launch venom against his fellow citizens, referring to them as 'scum of the radical left,' is not only unworthy of the office but also deranged, un-Christian, and utterly unworthy of his position. This is the behavior of a bitter and petty man who cannot even pretend to foster unity for a single holiday. Shameful. Disgraceful. Pathetic," emphasized another member of the social network.
