Posters with messages such as “Down with Díaz-Canel the murderer” and “Freedom for Cuba” appeared this Friday on the facades of homes in the Havana municipality of Guanabacoa, according to images shared on social media.

The graffiti was recorded in a brief video posted on Facebook by user José Díaz Silva, where slogans can be seen written directly on the walls of houses located in areas such as San Antonio and the surroundings of Versailles, near the plaza of Guanabacoa.

According to the circulated testimony, the messages appeared on the morning of this Friday, December 26th, and contain overt expressions directed against the ruling Miguel Díaz-Canel and the Cuban political system, with calls such as "Save Cuba."

So far, there has been no official information regarding the authorship of the posters or any actions taken by the authorities in relation to these events.

It has not been specified whether the graffiti was removed after its appearance.

The dissemination of such messages in public spaces occurs in a context of growing social discontent marked by the economic crisis, prolonged blackouts, and the deterioration of living conditions, factors that have fueled visible and symbolic expressions of protest across various parts of the country.

In August, a billboard featuring the image of the president was vandalized at the entrance of the municipality of Perico, in Matanzas, after more than 27 consecutive hours without electricity.

In the same month, the increasing social unrest on the island once again manifested with anti-government posters in public spaces of Santiago de Cuba, specifically in the densely populated neighborhood of Abel Santamaría.
