The Cuban right-handed pitcher Joseph Arias recently arrived in the Dominican Republic with the goal of preparing for a future signing with a Major League organization, as reported by journalist Francys Romero on Facebook.
Arias, 15 years old, was part of the Cuba U-15 team that participated in the 2025 World Pre-Championship, where he caught attention for his potential and control from the mound.
According to the report, the young pitcher has a fastball that reaches 87–88 miles per hour, along with good control of the strike zone, qualities that make him a prospect to watch in the international market.
The right-hander will train at the Baseball Prospect Academy, located in San Cristóbal, one of the most active areas for talent development aimed at professionalism.
Joseph Arias will be eligible to sign with MLB starting January 15, 2028, at which point he can officially enter the international signing system.
The case of Arias adds to the growing number of young Cuban baseball players who choose to develop their careers outside the island, seeking opportunities in professional baseball due to the limitations of the state sports system.
